How to Apply for a Canada Tourist Visa
The process is straightforward but must be done carefully.
Step 1 – Create an Online Account
Go to https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html
and create an IRCC account (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
Step 2 – Complete the Application
Fill out the IMM 5257 and IMM 5645 (Family Information) forms. Upload all required documents in the requested formats.
Step 3 – Pay the Visa Fee
The standard fee for a visitor visa is CAD 100, plus CAD 85 if you need to provide biometrics.
Step 4 – Give Biometrics
You’ll receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter after payment. Book an appointment at your nearest Visa Application Centre (VAC).
Step 5 – Wait for Processing
Processing usually takes 2 to 8 weeks, depending on your country. You’ll receive an email when a decision is made.
Step 6 – Submit Your Passport
If approved, you’ll be asked to send your passport for the visa stamp.
